Welcome Deborah! You're in a good place to start right here if you don't have others in the area who do Bobbin lace. The following link may give you insight into the rest of the Lace world, including classes and links - https://lacenews.net/ . Also, I've found that if there's no group nearby to get some hands on advice for "how things work", it really helps to take the time to travel to take a class. From your area it may be a haul, but a set of classes can set you up for immediately helpful knowledge from experts, and LOTS of practice by yourself at home afterwards, without the developing of bad habits. Remember that this craft was first taught by rote from one lacer to another :) Good luck in your baby steps!
Welcome. Please read all the NOTES. They explain our policies, and how the software works. Join any groups that interest you. I recommend the BOBBINLACE BEGINNERS group, especially. It has a recommended books list, and links to good online information. We also have free tutorials on this site. Look for the gray bar above, and click on TUTORIALS. I think you will find our members very helpful. It is possible to learn bobbin lace without a teacher. I did.
