For those who love hand made lace.
I only discovered this site about a week ago. Lorelei of Lynxlace appears to run it.
Several years ago I did a lot of practice on burlap. Using #10 thread on burlap is about the same proportion as finer thread on linen. This year I bought three yards of fairly loose-weave linen with a much finer weave, although not as fine as in regular pulled-thread lace work.
I've uploaded some pictures of pulled-thread word and intend to load more on my Photos page. This pattern is diagonal drawn ground, created by working faggot stitch offset by 1 in each direction. Compare net ground in the next image. The border is 2 rows of chain stitch. Since doing this I have learned reverse chain stitch (much more even) and heavy chain stitch which is wide without doing 2 rows.
This photo is net ground on linen, created by working alternating rows of large and small faggot stitches (over 4 threads and 2 threads respectively). It looks quite different worked over 6 threads and 3 threads, not nearly as "netty."
