That's beautiful, along with the other pieces in your gallery. So far, as you see, I've been doing square or rectangular patches of the stitches, but nothing says I can't make a nice pattern instead - would give practice on working inside an outline, too. It would be better if I had a washable marker to draw the patterns with. Things being as they are, it's not possible to drop into Michaels and pick up a washable pen, so I'll think of something else. Maybe my brother the artist has something on hand, or, I could outline them with sewing thread and then remove it.
Claudia - Have you seen this photo from my website? It was made by Grace Lister, and was the basic idea that let me design my best piece. She took irregular shapes, outlined them, and then filled with various stitches. I added a little surface embroidery to mine, for texture. If you like this idea, figure out a design, your very own design, where you can incorporate various stitches.
