Hi everyone,I've tried several magnifiers and magnifying lamps recently, and I've got a x2 magnifier which has a small x6 section on it. The x6 part is a big improvement, but it's far too small to…Continue

A neighbor gave me this and said it was her grandmother's used for tatting. Well I know that is NOT what it is, but the lacy pattern and the bobbin-like shape of the handle makes me think it was…Continue

a clever idea -- a way to keep bobbins wound in pairs from becoming hopelessly tangled while you set up a piece.

I also made a sawdust pillow many years ago, and it was just about as messy as this one. I was coughing for a week afterward. And I had to take it apart and repack it with more sawdust, since it had settled for 24 hours after I first made it. It worked as a pillow, but is very heavy, far to heavy to take to workshops and meetings. These guys in the video really did a good job of beating that sawdust. But I don't understand why they mixed in those little round balls.
Three hours ago, I had posted about the biggest bobbin lace pillow in the world on my FB page and have seen interests in it already. I was truly amazed myself at how they went about making it. I have made two pillows myself, but no where near as large as this one. 7:05 Low cost Bobbins Jenny Brandis 11K views 6:18 Beginning Shuttl...
Watching some guys constructing "the biggest bobbin lace pillow in the world". Hilarious. Notice all the sawdust on the floor, the lamp shade.

Yes, that is like the one I tried. I did not wind it correctly, for starters, and found it a bit bulky. Perhaps if I had stuck with it a bit more I might have managed it better, but ....!!! :
I really enjoyed the tatting class at IOLI, and came home with a Jumbo tatting shuttle, and some sewing needles that take thick thread, that I have never seen - or heard of before!
