Each class (workshop) consists of three 3-hour sessions for a total of nine hours and costs $100.  I.O.L.I. members register for one class each beginning May 15.  June 1 class registration is open for additional classes and to non-members.  All of this information is available by going to the website at internationalorganizationoflace.org and clicking on the link for UnCon 2.0.  Details about the classes and instructors will be available on the website beginning May first.

Everyone who is interested in participating in UnCon needs to register for UnCon.  There is no cost to register for the convention.  I.O.L.I. members who register will have access to all events including participation in the Tat Off, annual meeting, games and presentations.  Non-I.O.L.I. members will have access to some of the events.

Joyce, how much are the classes?  I saw something about a 9-hour workshop that is $100, but I didn't see prices on the classes (which are only 3 hours).

Hello everyone! I've been working on the advertisements for the upcoming virtual UnCon 2.0 Convention in the Bulletin and on social media, and we wanted to make sure to get the word out here on the Ning site too.

UnCon 2.0 is a free virtual conference brought to you by the International Organization of Lace, Inc. Registration gives you access to a taste of the convention events, and current I.O.L.I. members get access to additional speakers, activities, and events as well as the annual general meeting.

Convention registration opens on Saturday, May 15th, 2021. (Paid class registration is separate from the free convention registration.)

For more information, please visit the I.O.L.I. website at www.internationalorganizationoflace.org and click on the "I.O.L.I. 2021 Virtual Convention" link.

You are invited to visit our website at internationalorganizationoflace.org and click on Lace Challenge in the right column to find the instructions for the challenges.  Then click on the drop down menu in the upper right corner or on the titles of the lace challenges to go to the pages where the challenge entries are displayed.

IOLI members – all ages & skill levels – are invited to participate in Challenge 2: Lace Biscornu.  According to Wikipedia, the name biscornu is derived from the French adjective meaning skewed, quirky or irregular.  You can choose to make this challenge as quick and simple or as elaborate as you want.

For this challenge, make two “squares” of lace – any pattern, any color(s), any fiber(s).  Then stiffen the “squares”, bend, and sew them together to make a biscornu.  3” to 4” squares are recommended, not too small and not too large.  The “squares” may have curved edges.  You may knit, crochet, tat or make the “squares” in bobbin lace or needle lace.  Assembly instructions are attached.

You may use a traditional lace pattern for the “squares”, or you may simply make a square using your favorite lace stitch pattern in your technique or try out stitch patterns you want to explore.  A basic grid for bobbin lace is posted with the instrudtions.

When you complete your biscornu, send a picture to challenge@internationalorganizationoflace.org and I will post it on the Challenge 2 web page.  Please include information about the pattern and fibers you chose since other people may want to use the pattern.  On the Lace Challenge 2 web page, I have posted pictures of the lace biscornus that I have made so you can see some bobbin lace examples.  I look forward to seeing your lace biscornus.  Entries for this challenge will be accepted until May 31, 2021.

Reminder: Entries will be accepted for Lace Challenge 1: Inspired by the Stash until December 31, 2020.  Challenge 1 projects are to be completed by March 31, 2021.

The IOLI is looking for advice about our Lace Lectures series. We are interested in hearing from members and non-members about talks they might be interested in hearing and the most convenient times to hold the talks. Please fill out this survey so that we can schedule talks that are of interest to the lace community. #lacelectures,  if you have not already done so using the link from the email sent to IOLI members or the link on the IOLI Facebook.  Here is the link to the survey: https://forms.gle/tvZ5W72DdsX4mb8a9

IOLI Challenge 1: Inspired by the Stash was announced in the recent issue of the Bulletin.  The first entries have been received and are displayed on the IOLI website for everyone to view at Members' Lace Challenge .  IOLI Members may continue to submit plans for their stash inspired projects through December 31, 2020.  Members may continue to submit pictures and statements for their finished projects through March 31, 2021,  Members send their entries to challenge@internationalorganizationoflace.org .

The webeditor@internationalorganizationoflace.org is still accepting pictures of members' Iso-LACE-tion lace, made while we are staying close to home due to COVID-19.  See what members have submitted at Iso-LACE-tion lace .

The webeditor@internationalorganizationoflace.org is also accepting pictures for display at Members' Lace for members getting to know members. There is a section for each region in IOLI. The links will take you to members of that region. There will be a showcase of the member and their lace. Updates will be made to the regions as information is received from our members.
