RE: IOLI Classes 2018

If you check the website now, the class information is not there.  The changes for this year are in progress and will should be up after Jan. 1.  Feb. 15 is still the start date for entries.  Entries can be submitted anytime, but anything received prior to Feb. 15 will be postmarked as Feb. 15 for class assignments.

I  have checked out the IOLI site for next year's Convention, and viewed the classes offered. I see that Feb, 15th is the "Start" date for entries, - but that a couple of the classes are already marked Full, - in red!

How can the classes be filled, if entries have not yet opened?  this puzzles me.

We are hoping to come again, and I would do a Tatting class only, but we will have to see how things are - healthwise,-  in the New Year. Australia is a Long way from San Antonio, - but not as far as Philadelphia was last year!!!!

I received my notification - I am in my chosen clss, and chosen Wednesday tour, too.!

I cannot make contact with the person named on the IOLI Convention site (named Laura) who is in charge of the display area, as I would like a form to fill in, to offer some lace for the Exhibition.  I have written twice - without  receiving a reply, - so for some reason my emails may not be getting though to her.

Any suggestions would be helpful!

This notice was posted on arachne today, and I thought it useful, pertaining to this years IOLI convention.

The Public Day for the IOLI Convention is Wednesday. B You will be able to go shopping, visit the display room, plus there will also be a room available where you would be able to make lace and connect with other lace makers.

We look forward to see you there.    Tina Allen"

I have just heard from my convention co-chair that there are rooms still available and that the hotel has increased our bloc of rooms. If anyone has problems getting a reservation please contact me at and I will be very glad to help.

The Agent from Sales said the block wasn't full and didn't understand the Booking Agent not finding anything. The Booking Dept could give me 15th and 21st at IOLI rates. It was quite the process!

Based on my experience handling the hotel arrangements for our 2015 convention, it is quite possible that the IOLI block is full and they may need to add more rooms to the block. It is always a good idea to call the hotel directly and speak to them rather than a central booking number. I will try to contact the local group and let them know there may be issues with the hotel reservations availability.

Glad you, too, managed to phone and get a booking, Valerie.

See you there!!!! :)

Yesterday the Hotel link from IOLI website said the hotel had no rooms available, as did the centralized booking number I called. The agent suggested I speak to the Sales Dept at the hotel and they made my booking for me.
