For those who love hand made lace.
Are ALL Hardanger patterns made on graph paper with a darker line every 10 squares? Or would every five squares be equally acceptable? I can do either one, just wondering whether there is a standard. The only patterns I have so far are from the booklet I learned from and one other book (not an instructional book), so I don't have much to go by. When I made my one pattern years ago, I made it on graph paper with a darker grid line every five lines (probably because that's what I had on hand), and I never noticed before that my other patterns have the dark line every 10 lines.
I do my graphs digitally on Corel. As Hardanger is done in blocks over 4 threads, I usually use a 1/4” graph paper and make one square = 1 block.
In my opinion, the darker line spacing is irrelevant. It’s there for easier counting.
Thank you so much for showing us your graphs!! I've been obsessed lately with pulled thread and drawn thread and wasn't sure how to go about graphing it. Now that I can see what you do, it helps.
I use 4/inch graph paper. Nice big squares.
