Selena, I joined Lacioli only last week and with the holidays and all, I really haven't had a chance to add to my page. I do not have any pictures of my work. In the past I have knitted, crocheted, tatted, needlepoint and cross stitch, along with embroidery and sewing. I saw a demonstration of bobbin lace making in October and became determined to learn it. I have been gathering supplies and reading. Two days ago I received my first kit and am practicing half stitch and whole stitch. :) Maybe I'll have something soon. Thank you for responding to my post and questions. I see from your pictures that you do beautiful work. Jeanette (Jeannie ,to my friends and I will count you as one).
Thank you for the welcome. I have done a few things with Romanian point lace and sometimes the hardest part is getting the crochet cord right. I just finished a vest with Romanian Point Lace embelishment and I will post pictures soon.
I have a picasa account and discovered that a lot of Spanish lacemakers have accounts there. Periodically I get a notice about new posts. They seem to love having lace days in some city nearly every weekend during the warm months. Hundreds (maybe thousands) of lace makers show up. And they love to take pictures of what everybody else is doing. Through this means I've discovered what kinds of lace are being made in Spain. It is fascinating, and quite different from the U.S. Here only a tiny fraction of the population makes bobbin lace, and it is hard to find someone who has even heard about it. Different countries, different traditions and practice. It fascinates me.
