Hi Lorelei!  Thanks for your welcome!  You may remember me from Needle Lace Talk, which is where my work is showcased.

I've joined this site because of my growing interest in identifying types of lace, even those I don't make.  I recently had the opportunity to get some close-up pictures of antique laces--some machine made (early Leavers loom work) and some handmade (a really interesting embroidered piece simulating gros point, but using appliqued linen!)--and I was able to identify them, but when it came to the bobbin lace, I had little to say because I don't know about that form of the art.

I hope to learn a lot here, and find helpful people when I have questions!

Thank you for welcoming me to the group. This artifact, which was identified in the report as a bobbin, looked odd to me and I questioned whether it was actually a bobbin.  I did some additional research and it turns out to be a circa 1880-1900 bone sewing stiletto/awl.  It was found in Baltimore.  Thank you anyway and if we do find any bobbins, I will get back in touch.

Thanks for the intro. As I'm new to this I've always wanted to try bobbin lace, tried it. Did something wrong cause I ended up with a big knot so I just put it away. Now i see that bobbin lace has come back and with the marvels of technology I feel it is going to be much easier to learn.

Thanks, Lorelei,

I was already on needlelacetalk, and didn't realize I wasn't fully subscribed to the entire site. I'm sad to see the end of the Guild of Needle Laces,  but hope something similar will take its place.

Hello Lorelei,

Thank you for accepting me onto the group. I'm just making a home made bolster pillow so I can start practicing and have been reading up as much as I can on the basics. I will read the posts suggested.

Again, thanks for having me.

Dear Lorelei,

Thank you so much for accepting me as this group. My English is not very good. Thank you so much for the Turkish message you sent me. You are a very kind person :)

I want to learn, develop and teach this art unknown to my country. I hope I can.

If I can learn to learn and develop and teach others, I would like to invite you as my teacher already to join my exhibition :)

Thank you for having me here. Actually, I found your site while I was researching a small sample of genuine antique Irish Crochet I was able to purchase over the weekend. I will post photos and the story of how I came across this piece later, I have to leave the house shortly. I have just begun learning the Irish technique, I have 2 motifs from the book Irish Crochet Lace Motifs Collected And Described By Eithne D'Arcy. I need to get them posted at Ravelry and here; I am almost finished replacing the difficult edging on a 9 Ring Flower from Ms D'Arcy's book. My ambition is to produce a finished jacket, but I am very much just getting started.

It is an honor to be a part of this group, and I am excited to participate. I hope you are having a wonderful start to your week
