"A bobbin lace pillow is called a pillow because of its shape. But it needs to be hard enough to hold pins without them wobbling or shifting. There is a modern material called "ethafoam" -- poly ethylene in the U.S. which is quite good --…"

Pillow Pointers?

Hello! I'm new to bobbin lace making, and am looking for advice for a good pillow. As I am Mostly Broke, I started with what I call "Eff-it" materials - what I have around the house (which as I am a crafty person this actually worked). I'm a beginner bobbin lace learner. I have a special interest in fiber arts in general, and can spin, knit, crochet, and weave. Bobbin lace is new to me and I'm working through a book to learn bobbin lace. I'm also a living history volunteer at my local National Park, where in costume I demonstrate and teach visitors about spinning wool into yarn. I'd love to learn more lace history, as well.
