Live blogging The Young Lace Makers Symposium- Doily Free Zone

I have proposed to Lorelei that those of us who are attending the 1st International Symposium of Young Lace Makers in Pavia Live Blog the event. I don't know if anyone has ever Live Blogged a lace event before, or even if it is a good idea, but in the spirit of innovation, I thought we could give it a try. I encourage anyone who is attending to share their thoughts, observations, pictures and Youtubes as responses to this entry.

I enjoyed your article in the summer IOLI bulletin, especially your dry humor leaking through the cracks.

Thank you for your welcome, information and suggestion. I am fairly new to steampunk circles, but getting more interested as time goes on. I am not aware yet of anyone making lace, but will search and pursue :)
Looking forward to learning anyway and meeting you all here.

John C. Campbell Folk School. Sorry it took so long to answer you. Still trying to get into the rhythm of this wonderful site.

My bff and I will be coming to Lace Day on Saturday. What time does it start ? We will be coming from Long Island so I will just mapquest the directions. In fact my gf knows that area from doing resets at the local Stop and Shop.

See you soon!

Thanks Devon! It has been a very bumpy ride but we are almost there... I hope that now that things are in place next time will be easier and hopefully it will encourage more young people to make lace! Let's hope!!

See you very soon,

A

Devon,

Yes, they are magnificent. I am delighted that more of the late 19th to early 20th century laces of the same style are coming out in the open.

Devon, I can't tell you ho much I appreciate all of the information you sent me.  I was planning to reply but I can just reply here!  I will take your advice about ignoring spam too.  I'll try to get those pictures on here in the next day or two - have a lot of appointments today.  Yes, I did see the photos of the work showing the French Chateaux and it is fascinating!  Also, the work does look a lot like the work in my pieces.

I need to learn more about handmade lace because I do offer some antique/vintage pieces on my website, but nothing like these special pieces that I have.

Thanks so much again.  Patricia Cook

Thank you for the welcome comment. I don't have anything particular to ask, I'm just pleased to have found so many lace-makers.

Thank you! I hadn't made my way to that section yet. Actually I'm going to bring that up with one of my teachers too!

Definitely going to make a special day for that! :D
