My husband and I just moved to the St. Louis County area about 5 months ago. We live in Chesterfield. I've been searching for bobbin lacemakers. I've tatted for over 25 years. I hope we can meet up some time. Of course, you've probably discovered the Heartland Lace Guild, which meets once per month in Paducah, KY, not all that far from you.

There are several ways you can start to learn bobbin lace, using material available directly on this site. The BOBBINLACE BEGINNERS group has a list of recommended books. http://laceioli.ning.com/group/bobblinlace-beginners/page/recommended-books
There are also links to Jo Edkins' site, which concentrates mostly on torchon, and has animated stitches.

There are also some braided lace lessons, which I wrote. Links are there.
Start with a strip of cloth stitch, half stitch and ctct.

Welcome. Please read all the NOTES. They explain our policies, and how the software works. Join any groups that interest you. I especially recommend the BOBBINLACE BEGINNERS group. Its opening page has lots of links to good online information. If you have any questions about this site, contact me and I'll try to help.
