Found the lacework at our local museum.  The bobbins were made of ivory and the day - cap was worn by one of Alabama's governor's wife.

sorry - I forgot to add the explanation of this piece.  I found it in our local museum and thought it was interesting.

Unfortunately there isn't enough detail in this photo for us to see anything about the lace: what kind it is, machine or handmade, bobbin or needle.
