For those who love hand made lace.
I'm afraid this is what I would consider my worst bobbin lace failure, and I ended it early as a result. For as few bobbins as this uses - 4, or 2 pairs - this was challenging and ultimately frustrating. In An Early Lace Workbook by Rosemary Shepherd, it looked like it was possible to do this in linen, but I was not able to. It is possible this was intended to be done in metal, since a single metal wire would hold the loop shape without a problem. I found this edging in metal on a 1580s doublet, even. But I was unable to get the loops to hold, even using knotted picots. I'm sure my thread was too thin. Still, I'm disappointed.
