The full details of the IOLI Contest for 2016 have just been posted on the IOLI website.

Lafayette Lacemakers, Inc. and IOLI
announce the lace contest theme:
"200"

The theme for the 2016 IOLI Lace Contest is “200” in recognition of Indiana’s statehood bicentennial. Each lace contest entry must relate to the number “200” in some way. The entry may depict the actual number “200”, or represent “200” in a more subtle way appropriate to the lace type, design or size. Each contest entry must be accompanied by a written statement explaining how the piece has incorporated the “200” theme

For further information such as size restrictions, etc, see this link:

Does anyone here know when the details of the 2016 lace contest will be posted/published? I was at Convention this year, heard the announcement, know the basic idea, but clearly need to see the official rules before I start going crazy with any start of planning of a piece. I know the details will be published in the next issue of the magazine, but will those details show up on the IOLI website, here, any other internet source, any time soon? Or will the Bulletin show up in my mailbox any time soon? (I feel like its still a good month or so away before I could expect that.) Thanks for any info you could pass along!

I have just looked up where next years convention will be held, - Indianapolis, -- and I Love the sense of Humour - (Indy) ".. 200 - race to make lace"!! Brilliant.!!!

A wild hope that I can be there, - we will see how things turn out, but it is a long way to travel for a couple of Aussies who are no longer as young as we wish we were!!!!!! We will see how things turn out......!

"....a new group called BOOKREVIEWS where everybody can post that kind of comment. Then all the reviews will be in the same place. ...."

Thank you,. That sounds a Great group  -this whole site is so useful, but to have reviews placed together would be a help to us folks who are not too good on doing searches!

To all our members who are attending the convention --

When you find yourselves magnetically drawn to the book sellers, please take close note of any particularly good new books, and write us a review. We need to know, how many patterns, are they arranged in order of difficulty, is it a teaching book or a pattern book, are the diagrams clear and sufficient? That sort of thing. I am creating a new group called BOOKREVIEWS where everybody can post that kind of comment. Then all the reviews will be in the same place.  I'll love you forever if you do this for us.

Don't forget, June 30 is the closing date for submitting your display room form for the IOLI Convention 2015.  We want to see what you've been working on, your antique laces or laces that are outside the box. You may turn in the lace when you arrive.   Please consider a submission.  Contact Carla Bowlin at csbowlin56@gmail.com for a display room form.

Wow, that was quick!  They added a few rooms as I requested earlier this week but before she could even let me know they were snatched up and booked!  So more have been added to our block for Sunday.

Again, the hotel is completely booked on Saturday for another convention.  So your patience will be greatly appreciated when checking in on Sunday as most rooms will not be available for early check in.

I see that our room block for Sunday is full once again.  I have a request in to the hotel to add more rooms to our block on Sunday July 26 for those who need to arrive early.  There are plenty of rooms available for Monday and the rest of the week.  Remember, our opening reception is MONDAY July 27 this year and  classes start TUESDAY July 28 and the final banquet is SATURDAY Aug 1.

I have registered for the lace convention.  I will make my room reservation in the next couple of days.  As of now I don't have a room mate. Is anyone looking for a room mate?
