Lorelei, I have been doing a search for Sulky Thread. The one I have been using is Guttermann Sulky 30, but there seems to be a Sulky brand like there is a Guttermann brand. Are the two one & the same or two different brands?

I only discovered Sulky fairly recently. It's only stocked by one of our major haberdashery stores, and then only in the variegated. It has been beautiful to work with.

Sulky has a website and you can order directly from them, the full range of their products.

Hi Gabrielle, thanks for this. I had no idea. We have a very limited range where I live.

regards Kate

With regards to "Sulky": That is available in different qualities, cotton and viscose, and different weights, too, so look closely when you choose.

Hi Jenny.

That sounds a good way forward.

I have used Gutermann Sulky too, and it is lovely thread.

Good luck Kate

Thank Kate & Lorelei, I think I’ll mend with the same thread. It’s a variegated Gutermann Sulky 30 so it would be hard to match. I’m planning to anchor it in the back of my mounting stitches, then try to recreate the path of the bobbins, then bring back to the mounting stitches. I may have to do it a few times as I seem to have cut two twists. I’ve repaired cut threads on Drawn thread work that should not have been cut with success. I’ll let you know how I go. Thanks again.

Hi Jenny, I’m sorry to hear of your mishap.

I did a similar thing once when sewing up.

I managed to do a ‘mend’ by sewing the piece with very fine thread from the wrong side. I was lucky it didn’t show. I hope you are too.

regards Kate

I am not an expert at solving this kind of problem. I can only suggest what occurs to me as a possible solution. Find a very fine thread of the same color as the cut threads. Whip that carefully around the ground and stitch it to the footside. Somewhat like the "lassen" method of overlapping the beginning and ending of a Flanders piece.

Morning Everyone, I need some help from the experts and wasn't sure where else to put this. I have finished my second edge for a friend and have cut my lace as I was trimming the fabric away after mounting. Is there any way to fix this? I could have cried! It is second one I have done for her, the first one I stuffed up the pricking and it was not square, so I decided to fix up my pricking and do another one. and this one I have cut! All help, ideas and thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Photo is below. The arrow points to where the cut is. I have cut two twists. Many thanks, Jenny
