Are you ready for spring? Would you like to spend the weekend tatting with others? There is still time to register for the Shuttlebirds 21st Annual Tatting Workshop, May 4-7, in Post Falls, ID. Registration closes on March 27th. We also have scholarships available to help with the cost, but you will have to hurry if you want to apply. The scholarship application deadline is March 1st.“ Full details are available on our website:

Thanks Georgia. I can certainly see the difference between the 2 methods.  Like all Lacemaking - what works for one person does not work for another. I will let you know how I go - when I eventually get around to trying it out.

There seem to be fewer hours to each day lately - and months to the year, etc.  Ae we being cheated and short-changes somewhere along the line?!!!

I used Aunt Ellen's Cluny directions to learn but I suffered from the "death grip" syndrome. In the photo the white leaves are hand held. I had little control as you can see. So I eventually moved over to the hand held loom and then the box loom.

But give them all a try!

Thanks Georgia. those are Very helpful links.  I want to use my hand as the loom, though - I don't need more equipment!!, and the hand is much more portable!!!

I will have a go - when I finish my current project (must get that completed Soon!).

At least, now, I have lots of information on the technique - and there are some patterns, too!!!

I am not sure why me email came though twice!!  Your video was very helpful Linda, Masny thanks, - and also thank you for the free pattern I just downloaded - the Classic Doily Patten.  I Love it, and will have a go at it as soon as I finish my current project.

Your tatting is beautiful.

I have a video demonstration on how to make clunies on YouTube. You will find the link for it on my blog
I hope this helps anyone who is struggling.

We are at the same point when doing these Cluny's.    I have made them before in BL, but a long time ago now.  I've never tried them in tatting.

I am hoping to learn the Cluny Petal tatting this year.  I can make them in my sleep - just about- in Bobbin Lace, and I understand the weaving part, - but working out the framework over the fingers looks to me to be the hard bit - and then drawing up the threads at the end!!!  I am very stubborn and determined,  so I am sure I will stick with it, and get it going - I hate to be beaten - especially by just a length of thread!!

Any helps will be appreciated!
