I hope this helps anyone who is struggling.

We are at the same point when doing these Cluny's.    I have made them before in BL, but a long time ago now.  I've never tried them in tatting.

I am hoping to learn the Cluny Petal tatting this year.  I can make them in my sleep - just about- in Bobbin Lace, and I understand the weaving part, - but working out the framework over the fingers looks to me to be the hard bit - and then drawing up the threads at the end!!!  I am very stubborn and determined,  so I am sure I will stick with it, and get it going - I hate to be beaten - especially by just a length of thread!!

Any helps will be appreciated!

Cluny pedal tatting is a main project for this year.  Couple more weeks and I'll be set to go.  Hope is there is more found on the history of it.

Searching for the earliest mention of cluny petal tatting. The info on Mimi's great page has already been harvested. Anyone know of an earlier date?

I can do Knotted lace - Oya type, but mixing it with tatting - Wow! that sounds a bit complicated!

I cannot 'Not Flip' stitches! I have to use the Dead Spider technique when doing split rings!!!
