For those who love hand made lace.
My Aunt Ida who is now 100 gave me what was probably once used as a dresser scarf. She does not know anything about it other than it was amoung old family items. The linen is hemmed to about 19.5" x 47". The embellishments on both ends extend about 8" from the linen.
My guess is that the embellishment was made using a needle.
Does anyone have a guess about time period or region where this style might have been popular?
I'm wondering it this might be an item which was mentioned in family correspondence between cousins in US & Scotland around 1900-1910.

I'm not sure what this is. The rings might possibly have been made using crochet. The bumpy petal-like things -- I can't see well enough, but again crochet is possible. It is NOT needle lace, NOT bobbin lace. The other possibility is that the petals are some kind of excessivily bumpy kind of cord arranged in long loops.
Maybe crochet chain loop flowers.
Tomorrow I'll see if I can find a way to pin out a petal so that the detail is visible as the petal is stretched.
It does appear to have chain loops on one side and chain loops on chain loops on the other side. It almost looks like there is a chain in the middle, but the thread paths aren't a simple chain.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's crochet.

When it is pinned out it looks like it begins with a chain out, returns with chain loops on one side and then chain loops all around. An initial chain is not obvious because of the way it tends to bunch and curl.
