FOR LEARNING HONITON & TECHNIQUE
Elsie Luxton THE TECHNIQUE OF HONITON LACE, Batsford 1979. The earliest really useable book. Detailed explanation at the front of the book, less in the middle and near the end. She explains raised work well enough that I was able to learn it from her book.
Susanne Thompson INTRODUCTION TO HONITON LACE, Batsford, 1985. I think this is the best teaching book. Very detailed instructions, with many diagrams, for 5 patterns which cover the basics. Out of print. Try and get it used. She wrote a 2nd book (which I haven't seen). It also is O.P.

Christine Hawken 121 HONITON FILLINGS "121 HONITON FILLINGS: this a a good book for the experienced Honiton lacemaker who wants ideas for fillings. Each filling is well graphed and diagramed. The only drawback is that the pictures of the fillings are not of the best quality. But that is understandable since the book was published in 1997." review by Cathy Kozlowski, IOLI LIbrarian IOLI B-298 121 Honiton Fillings
Cynthia Voysey HONITON LACE A PRACTICAL GUIDE -- IOLI B-173
Sheila Wells HIONITON LACE STEP-BY-STEP, self published 1998. A pamphlet, quite good. 6 patterns. Detailed explanations.
FOR HONITON PATTERNS
Elsie Luxton and Yusai Fukuyama HONITON LACE, THE VISUAL APPROACH. Batsford, 1988. Lovely patterns by both, his reflect Japanese aesthetics, very interesting. Some really spectacular designs, especially the grapes and grape leaves.
Pat Perryman & Cynthia Voysey NEW DESIGNS IN HONITON LACE. Batsford, 1984. Many lovely patterns. No instructions except for how many pairs at the widest for each part. Several samplers for grounds and raised work.
Elsie Luxton HONITON LACE PATTERNS, Larousse 1984. Lots of patterns, tiny motifs and complicated compositions.
