Information

Duchesse and Rosaline

Includes 18th and 19th century Brussels lace. Duchesse bobbin lace is a 19th century derivation of older and more complex Brussels laces.  Some Duchesse (often called Brussels Duchesse) contains insets of point de gaze needle lace.  Rosaline is an offshoot of Duchesse, and uses winkiepin edge, and often has needlemade rings appliqued to flower centers.

Some pieces from my collection - Rosaline.

We have not had too much involvement with these types. I think they are worth attention. If you are interested, or are working some project, please post pictures so we can talk about it.

I have done only a few Duchesse pieces. I have not yet done any Rosaline, but it is on my list. I usually enlarge the patterns for this type of lace because my eyesight just can't handle the fine scale of the authentic style.

LOL I was just thinking the same thing - but admittedly I haven't visited this page a long time.....not working on these laces right now....

Carolyn

Please set up an EVENT for the Finger Lakes Rosaline workshop. Then it will be easier to find in the next few months.
